The Retablos on the loose are small installations created in nature, photographed and printed in extreme dimensions: very small or much larger than reality.
For once, the Retablos are not locked up in sealed worlds: they choose a place and the photographs delimit the space. They are virtually infinite works, extending beyond the edge of the frame to Mars, then to the beginning of our galaxy and beyond.
And a funny thing often happens: nature sends its envoys to take a look. In the world of the very small, the right audience arrives: the insects, which fly around the characters with curiosity, slip into the sets, sometimes cling to the protagonists. In short, they participate.
I really like the idea of making art that interests nature.
MORE ART FOR INSECTS!
It’s my cry, a manifesto that I feel like signing. Somehow, this satisfies my dæmon. Art for animals: hominids, like us, or thurdids, or diptera. Beauty, music, art, are the universal language; and love, of course: the real King Solomon’s Ring. My irony is for primates, but small worlds are for everyone.
